2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT

Riders who want a big tourer without the big bike weight (or price) need look no further than the Vulcan® 900 Classic LT. Add the touring touches that you’d expect – stylish saddlebags, an adjustable windscreen, and passenger backrest that will keep your favorite person happy – and you’ve got one impressive machine. Throw in all the styling details that you’d expect from a Vulcan cruiser, including the chromed brass studded seat that matches the passenger backrest, and you’ve got a real contender for the middleweight title.

This cruising Kawasaki shares the same excellent road manners as the Vulcan 900 Classic – from the fuel-injected 903cc engine, which delivers exceptional roll-on acceleration, to the nimble chassis sporting elegant, flowing cruiser beauty. Its eye-catching touring features only add to this winning mixture of mid-displacement agility and large-displacement power and torque – pleasing anyone who thinks touring represents the ultimate getaway.

At the core of the Classic LT’s touring package are striking, top-grain, reinforced cowhide saddlebags. The leather is carefully selected to minimize flaws and deep-dyed to prevent scraping off the finish. The ideally sized bags feature a slant-top opening held shut by two 1.5-inch wide leather straps fitted with chrome buckles and stealth quick-release fasteners. The rolled and riveted top lids, along with metal reinforced upper edges on the bags, help maintain shape and keep unwanted moisture out of the bags. An embossed Vulcan logo on the reinforced dual-panel lids and chrome-plated brass studs finish off the look of these bags.

A comfortable seat for both rider and passenger are a must on a tourer, and the Classic LT has both, along with a backrest to keep the passenger relaxed as the miles tick by. Both the seat and the backrest are detailed with chrome-plated brass studs to match the bags. A thick, optically correct, acrylic plastic windscreen delivers smooth airflow around the rider and passenger, reducing wind fatigue and bug strikes over the course of long rides the 900 Classic LT encourages you to take.

Once past the 900 Classic LT’s handsome looks, owners will discover themselves enjoying a ride that was previously found only on larger cruisers. Applying lessons learned on Kawasaki’s Vulcan 2000, the Vulcan 900 models deliver exceptional roll-on acceleration, easy maneuverability, and performance that rivals larger displacement competitors.

Breakdowns can ruin any trip. The Vulcan 900 Classic LT utilizes a low-maintenance belt drive not only to help avoid undesired stops, but also to save weight and keep the rear end rolling in high style. Speaking of rear-end styling, the 900 Classic LT sports a large, 180mm-wide rear tire – the largest in its category. The beefy tire’s appearance augments the classic V-twin rumble courtesy of a single-pin crankshaft. It’s this look and sound that suggest a much larger motorcycle.

However, the Vulcan 900 LT’s big footprint shouldn’t alarm potential riders. Its low seat and narrow chassis rails blend comfortably into the fuel tank, which translates into plenty of accessibility for shorter riders and comfort for those of all sizes. Wide handlebars ideally situated with the seat and floorboards, coupled with roomy passenger accommodations, make the Vulcan 900 Classic LT a real joy – whether it’s just a run to the store or a multi-day haul across the country.

The Vulcan 900 Classic LT is available in the following two-tone color combinations: Metallic Nocturne Blue / Candy Imperial Blue and Ebony / Metallic Titanium. Whatever color you choose, the Vulcan 900 Classic LT gets noticed by everyone it passes.

Engine

Engine gets an 8 millimeter longer stroke, boosting displacement to 903cc compared to the VN800’s 805cc.

Designed to offer superior acceleration in the mid-speed range (where most riding is actually done), the powerful, liquid-cooled V-twin engine has the torque to out-accelerate smaller displacement bikes yet with a single downshift can keep up with bikes one displacement class larger.

Oversquare 88 x 74.2mm bore and stroke ensures punchy response and a broad spread of satisfying power. Free-breathing SOHC 4-valve heads deliver impressive performance throughout the rev range.

The cylinder head features the same combustion chamber and intake/exhaust porting design concept as that of the mighty VN2000.

Deeply chromed engine covers have curved upper surfaces. Their 3D design adds volume and gives a quality appearance.

Deep fins on the cylinder and cylinder head were designed to highlight the VN900’s larger engine. Fin spacing and size where chosen to make the engine look big.

The edges of the fins receive a special NC treatment that makes them gleam in sunlight.

All the non-chromed parts of the engine were finished in a black powder coat.

The electronic fuel injection system, controlled by dual throttle valves, ensures silky smooth response and easy-to-control torque characteristics.

Automotive-type fine-atomising injectors improve performance, fuel economy and emissions.

An auto-fast idle system is equipped with an rpm feedback relay ensuring a fixed (ideal) engine speed in all starting conditions. (The feedback is used to control the sub-throttles to obtain the desired rpm.)

Curved intake tracts provide an extremely efficient path for intake flow. Ports narrow as they reach the combustion chamber, increasing intake flow speed for more efficient filling. The result of the highly intake efficiency is improved torque.

Long intake tracts extend well into the air cleaner box. The longer path improves low-end response.

Returnless-type pump inside the fuel tank prevents fuel starvation during hard braking or acceleration. No return fuel line increases reliability.

Redesigned crankshaft and gear-driven balancer are matched to the new longer stroke for smooth performance.

Like all Kawasaki V-twins, the VN900 engine uses a single crankpin for best strength and strong power feeling.

Lightweight, nut-less connecting rods like those on the VN2000 contribute to low vibration levels.

Five-speed transmission with smooth shift action is geared for a comfortably low rpm at highway cruising speeds.

The transmission is equipped with Kawasaki’s exclusive Positive Neutral Finder. Just lift the pedal from first at a stop to find neutral easily , every time.

Like the VN2000, the 900 Classic has a quiet and efficient belt final drive.

In addition to reduced maintenance (compared to chain final drives), belt drives offer a smoother ride quality less weight and better efficiency than shaft drives.

Dual slash-cut mufflers give the VN900 a wild air. The mufflers are angled so that they look good when the bike is on its side stand.

Catalysers built into each of the mufflers reduce exhaust emissions.
FrameOverall the VN900 Classic is longer and lower than its predecessor, the VN800.

Seat height has been lowered, giving the new Classic more of a “low rider” bias than the VN800.

The longer wheelbase (lengthened by approximately 50mm) provides even more stability when cruising and contributes to the Classic image.

The fork offset and rake geometry were set such that the bike does not self-steer. The result is light, low-effort handling when manoeuvring at ultra-low speeds

Triangular-shaped swingarm appears to be a hardtail design, but acts on a single shock hidden beneath the seat.

Shock is preload-adjustable

Brakes/Wheels/Tires

Chrome rims are supported by 48 spokes and polished alloy hubs.

Single 300mm drilled front disc delivers impressive stopping power without hiding the front wheel’s good looks.

Rear 300mm disc ensures maximum braking control.

Second only to that of the VN2000, the massive 180 mm rear tire gives the rear of the bike a powerful image. (At 180 mm, this tire is wider than most large-displacement cruiser rear tires, including all of Kawasaki’s 1600cc models!)

Bodywork/Styling/Ergonomic Features

The VN900 shares many of the long-and-low styling cues from the stunning VN2000. Easy to ride and very rider-friendly, the VN900 offers the look, feel and craftsmanship found in bigger cruisers. Whether rolling down the street or parked in front of a café, this is one sharp-looking machine.

The fuel tank and fenders follow the same design theme: twin valleys running the length of the bike.

The wide fuel tank tapers at the rear, contributing to the VN900’s curvaceous theme. The fuel tank’s curves have constantly varying radii, giving the bike a dynamism that is both powerful and smooth. Its hand-sculpted contours are pleasing to both the eye and to the touch.

At the seat, the fender is as wide as that of the VN2000, but it like the fuel tank it tapers elegantly at the rear.

Sissy-bar backrest features “Tombstone”-style riveting.

The comfortable front seat and pillion pad are the same as those on the 900 Classic, with the addition of steel rivets.

Where the 900 Classic instrument dial features a cream-coloured backing, the 900 Classic LT speedometer’s backing is black.

Comfort and Convenience

Footboards add comfort and contribute to the big bike styling.

A heal-toe shifter adds to the Cruising experience.

Kawasaki’s exclusive Positive Neutral Finder allows the rider to lift the pedal from first at a stop to find neutral easily , every time.

Large-capacity 18 litre fuel tank ensures an ample cruising range.

The tank-mounted instrument console is slim and lightweight, contributing to the bike’s elegant lines.

Large-faced easy-to-read speedometer features a multi-function LCD display, warning lamps – and even a fuel gauge

Large-faced easy-to-read speedometer features a multi-function LCD display, warning lamps – and even a fuel gauge

Large round multi-reflector headlamp complements the new classic bodywork and throws a broad beam for confident nighttime cruising.

Front turn signals feature an integrated lamp/stay design for easy mounting.

Push-to-Cancel Turn Signals: No fumbling, just a simple push on the switch cancels the turn signals

The combination of wide handlebars and an ideal relationship between seat, bars and footboards results in wonderfully comfortable riding position.

2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager

Horizon-chasing touring bikes are nothing new to Kawasaki. The original Voyager® and the sport-touring Concours™ models have been pulling long-haul duty wonderfully for decades now. But not until 2009 did Team Green bless its V-twin cruiser with the full-dress accoutrements necessary to go across the state – or across the country – in wraparound, top-shelf comfort. The result was the Vulcan® 1700 Voyager, a tourer that could not only whisk you and a passenger away in total comfort, but in classic style, too.

As the flagship of the Vulcan 1700 family, the 2011 Voyager boasts all the stuff you’ll need for such adventurous treks: a smooth and shockingly torquey 1,700cc V-twin powerplant, large frame-mounted fairing, beautifully integrated luggage that stows a week’s worth of gear, a comfortable saddle, electronic cruise control, high-fidelity sound system, optional K-ACT anti-lock/integrated braking system and the sort of design acumen and dependability Kawasaki is renowned for. It’s a package without equal in the motorcycling world.

Though a non-ABS model is available, last year, Kawasaki upgraded the 1700 Voyager’s driveline/braking technology with the addition of its second-generation Kawasaki Advanced Coactive Braking Technology (K-ACT) system. Available on the ABS-equipped Voyager, K-ACT uses advanced electronics to translate the rider’s braking inputs from both the front lever and rear pedal into smooth, balanced deceleration and maximum stopping performance. Basically, the front lever also activates the rear brake, and the rear pedal also engages the right front caliper: K-ACT ensures all this happens seamlessly and efficiently, and the, second-generation system uses the same smaller, lighter ABS unit and faster, higher-spec brake ECU found on the Kawasaki Concours™ 14 ABS motorcycle for even smoother, more precise operation. K-ACT’s coactive function does not engage when braking is applied at speeds below 12 mph, and the ABS function is automatically disengaged at speeds below 4 mph.

There’s much more on the unique technology front, including Kawasaki’s fully electronic throttle valve system, which works in concert with the Voyager’s Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system to enhance engine response without dulling the big Vee’s distinctive throb. The system also helps the ECU deliver ultra-precise air/fuel metering and more accurate idle speed control. The setup utilizes an Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) that feed data to the ECU, which adjusts the throttle plates to tailor intake airflow accordingly. The system offers natural throttle feel, as APS is activated by a throttle-body pulley connected by cables to the throttle grip.

The 1,700cc 52-degree V-twin all of this cool technology was designed to support is a marvel of engineering, and is as functionally capable as they come. Featuring liquid cooling, four-valve cylinder heads and a single overhead cam setup for big-time mid-range power, the engine utilizes a pair of big pistons to pump out a massive quantity of torque over an unbelievably wide rpm range – a key to this engine’s superb flexibility. There’s a boatload of the stuff located throughout the rpm zone where riders will spend the most time—and more than enough from idle all the way to 5,000 rpm, so major-league, arm-straightening thrust is available right now every time you twist the grip.
The Voyager’s fuel injection and exhaust systems are tuned to deliver peak torque and horsepower at slightly higher rpm than the Classic models, which is optimal for an open-road tourer. The Voyager’s mufflers have been redesigned for 2011 for improved sound quality and a more tapered, classic look. Other changes for 2011 are improved shifting action, revised intake manifold and a slight EFI tweak that improves throttle response by matching up more optimally with the newly designed mufflers. Additional touring functionality is provided by the Voyager’s beefy but easy-to-squeeze clutch, which features six damping springs and progressive three-stage engagement for easier shifting under hard acceleration.

The Voyager’s innovative technology is matched with essential touring features such as electronic cruise control and a six-speed transmission with overdrive fifth and sixth gears. The cruise control is conveniently operated from the right handlebar and can be activated between 30 and 85 mph in any of the top four gears. Conveniently, the cruise control can be disengaged by pressing the brake lever, clutch lever, rear brake pedal, or by manually rolling off the throttle.

Featuring overdrive ratios and a super strong carbon fiber drive belt, the Voyager’s drivetrain is ideally suited to its role as a relaxed mile-eater. Its tall fifth and sixth gears contribute to relaxed riding and better fuel economy at highway speeds, and its carbon fiber drive belt has a 40-percent higher tensile strength than the latest Kevlar units, allowing use of a 28mm design that minimizes drivetrain width.

A long-haul tourer needs superior wind and weather protection, and the Voyager packs plenty in the form of its large frame-mounted windshield and fairing, as well as leg shields that incorporate effective venting to keep engine heat off the rider’s legs during slower going. Mounting this beautifully sculpted fairing to the frame transfers any wind buffeting to the bike rather than the handlebar, which reduces rider fatigue on longer trips.

A full complement of stylish and integrated luggage is also part of the Voyager package. Sealed, lockable and top-opening side cases with 10 gallons (38L) of volume partner with a color-matched, 13.2-gallon (50L) lockable tail trunk that’s big enough to swallow two large full-face helmets. Besides ample storage, the Voyager also has a pair of lockable glove boxes up front that provide a handy place for storing small items and accessories.

Comfortable seating for rider and passenger is a must on a touring bike. The Voyager delivers again with deluxe touring seats sculpted to provide additional support for all-day touring. Contributing to long-distance passenger security and relaxation are a luxury backrest and floorboards for both the rider and passenger.

Built-in instruments and radio controls mounted on the Voyager’s classic automotive-style dash offer exceptional functionality and classic muscle car styling. The image is reinforced by the classic font used on the large round dials of the instrumentation and a radio styled to resemble 8-track players from the 1960s.

A multi-function LCD display is mixed in with the retro analog dials in the center of the instrument console. It’s controlled by switches on the right handlebar and features a gear-position indicator, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, remaining range and average fuel consumption.

The intercom headset-compatible, 40-watt, twin-speaker audio system features a three-band (FM/AM/WX) radio that is also compatible with iPods, an XM radio tuner, or a CB radio unit. The audio system (and iPod) can be operated by an integrated controller on the left handlebar. In addition to volume, the rider can also adjust the bass, treble and balance levels of the system.

The Voyager also features a water-cooled, rare earth magnet alternator that produces an impressive 46.8 amps of electrical output – enough to power add-on navigation systems and other electrical accessories that add to the modern touring experience. The Voyager also features a convenient cigarette lighter-style power port on the dash and two power outlets under the seat – ideal for electrically heated clothing and additional accessories.

Kawasaki designers packed the Voyager with advanced technology without dulling its dramatic styling and attractive visual appeal. Like the dashboard, the Voyager’s bodywork continues the ’60s muscle car inspiration with its curved, muscular lines. The meticulous attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship of the bodywork and engine covers is obvious in contoured shapes that look good from any angle and are as pleasing to the touch as they are to the eye.
The Voyager handles like a much lighter machine thanks to optimal chassis design and excellent suspension. Dual air-shocks offer 3.1 inches of rear suspension travel and feature settings unique to the Voyager. The shocks feature 4-way rebound damping adjustability to help ensure predictable handling and a comfortable ride.

Offering a stylish alternative to other run-of-the-mill V-twin tourers, the Vulcan 1700 Voyager combines Kawasaki reliability with the performance, V-twin feel, comfort and amenities long-distance touring riders demand.

Engine

Newly designed engine offers both significant power and torque gains and superior passing performance. The 1700cc engine is mounted in a new frame designed for light weight and light handling. The Voyager’s compact package offers ease of manoeuvrability.

Powerful 1700cc V-Twin engine

Long-stroke, liquid cooled, SOHC, 8-valve 1,700 cc V-Twin engine was designed to deliver high levels of torque. Bore and stroke measure 102 x 104 mm. Torque is approximately 15% greater than that of the VN1600D.

Valve system uses a SOHC arrangement instead of OHV for more direct engine feel and easier merging onto freeways.

Large capacity airboxes are located on either side of the engine.

Twin mufflers (one on each side) are based on the same construction as those on the VN2000.

Semi-dry sump (like that on the VN2000) allowed the crankshaft to be lowered, enabling a longer stroke without increasing engine height.

Both pistons are connected to a single crankpin. Primary balance is satisfied care of two counter-balance shafts.

Small-diameter iridium spark plugs reach deep into the combustion chamber for high combustion efficiency, especially at low-load operation (near idling).

Belt final drive is quiet and efficient and helps reduce maintenance chores. Using carbon fibre instead of Kevlar as a tensile material, the belt offers high strength (tensile strength is increased by 40%) with a slim size and light weight. Belt width (28 mm) is more comparable to that of the VN900 models (26 mm) than that of the VN2000 (40 mm).

The clutch features six damping springs for 3-stage progressive damping that contributes to smoother feeling when getting back on the gas.

Superior passing performance

Engine tuning offers superior acceleration in the 80-113 km/h (50-70 mph) range. Even in overdrive, the engine pulls strongly in this speed range, facilitating overtaking at highway speeds.

Transmission

6-speed transmission with overdrive

6th gear is an overdrive gear, contributing to stress-free riding and better fuel economy when cruising at highway speeds.

Handling

Light handling

Designed from the start to be as light and slim as possible, the frame minimises the number of forged parts and trims any unnecessary meat. The only forged parts (the down-tube joint, engine brackets, side-stand bracket, and rear fender/shock absorber bracket) are areas that require additional strength. The new frame is lighter than that of the VN1600A, with greater torsional rigidity.

More compact in design, the VN1700 has a shorter wheelbase than both the VN2000 and VN1600. The compact design contributes to light handling.

Shorter distance between the seat and frame head pipe facilitates handling at low speeds, especially when executing U-turns.

Mounting the front cowling to the frame rather than the handlebars contributes to light handling when manoeuvring at low speeds.

Tire choice and suspension settings also contribute to the light handling.

Styling

Kawasaki Cruisers have always been a showcase of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The Vulcan 1700 Voyager is no exception. With 60s-era American sports cars as a design theme, all surfaces have a muscular curvature that flows from one end of the bike to the other. Like on the VN2000 models and VN900 models before them, design of the engine covers and bodywork on the Vulcan 1700 models received meticulous care to ensure the bikes not only look good from any angle, but also that their elegant form is as pleasing to the touch as to the eye.

Engine

Basic engine structure has a great impact on a V-Twin engine’s appearance. Using a semi-dry sump enabled the engine’s long-stroke configuration without increasing its height.

The line created by the top of the airbox and the cylinder heads forms a curved lined that continues to flow through the bike.

Deeply chromed engine covers have curved upper surfaces. Their three-dimensional form adds volume and gives a quality appearance.

The edges of the fins receive a special NC treatment that makes them gleam in sunlight.

All the non-chromed parts of the engine have a matt black finish that further accentuates the chromed parts.

Slim design of the belt drive contributes to appearance.

Bodywork

Muscular front cowling is reminiscent of American sports cars in its sculpted, flowing design. Chromed headlamp cover and twin fog lights contribute to the look.

The elegantly shaped fuel tank tapers at the rear, contributing to the Vulcan 1700’s curvaceous figure, its lines flowing through the rest of the bike. The fuel tank’s curves have constantly varying radii, giving the bike a dynamism that is both powerful and sexy. Its hand-sculpted contours are pleasing both to the eye and to the touch.

Kawasaki craftsmanship is also evident in the styling motif of the front fender.

Liberal use of chrome contrasts nicely with the bodywork’s deep, lustrous paint. In addition to the engine, the front and rear guards are chromed, as are the accents on the panniers and trunk. Even the trunk brackets are fully chromed.

Motif from the front fender continues on the rear fender.

The Vulcan 1700 Voyager is the first Kawasaki V-Twin tourer to feature an elegant LED taillight.

In addition to the taillight on the rear fender, a large LED taillight mounted on the rear of the trunk is highly visible and contributes to the Vulcan 1700 Voyager’s appearance.

Chassis/Suspension

Lightweight Hollow Fine Die-Cast twin-spar aluminum frame utilizes MotoGP technology.

MotoGP-derived Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) .

43 mm inverted aluminum-slider cartridge front fork features spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability.

Exclusive Unit Pro-Link Rear Suspension is patterned after Honda's world-championship-winning

MotoGP RC211V. The upper shock mount is contained within the swingarm rather than being mounted to the frame. With no top frame mount for the shock, this unique system reduces negative suspension energy from being transmitted into the frame, allowing optimum frame rigidity and improved rideability out of corners. It also permits repositioning of the fuel tank lower and closer to the machine's centre of mass.

The CBR1000RRA comes with the world's first Electronically Controlled Combined ABS for sportbikes. This innovative system combines the benefits of anti-lock brakes and linked front and rear brakes to improve both braking control and safety — all without interfering with cornering ability or other aspects of sport performance. The system measures rider input on both the front brake lever and rear brake pedal (plus data from other sensors), then using sophisticated electronics and two separate power units, generates up to the maximum braking force on both wheels while also preventing wheel lockup. An innovative stroke simulator helps to maintain the same sort of feel at the brake lever and pedal as you're used to. Combine this with the small size and weight of the components, and you have one amazing system. Full braking performance immediately available, giving you that extra peace of mind.

Front brake system features radial-mounted four-piston calipers and 320 mm floating discs, and rear brake system uses a 220 mm disc with a single-piston caliper for exceptional stopping power.

Front discs with 72 holes of four different diameters for light weight and improved feel.

Super-light aluminum-alloy hollow-spoke wheels feature race-spec 3.5 x 17-inch front and 6.0 x 17-inch rear dimensions.

Centrally mounted 17.7-litre fuel tank is positioned low in the frame, increasing mass centralization and allowing for a more compact design.

2011 Ducati Streetfighter

Attitude of a fighter. The Streetfighter's Superbike soul combines fighter attitude and naked sophistication to create pure adrenaline. With 155hp of Ducati muscle, this fighter's gloves-off and ready for action.

Soul of a Superbike – Attitude of a fighter

For 2011, the Streetfighter arrives with a new arctic white colour scheme, while the Streetfighter S gets a matching red Trellis frame for the red version and a racing black frame for the new diamond black. Both Streetfighter models get radiator covers in a new subtle black finish and both colour schemes of the ‘S’ now have black wheels.

The Ducati Streetfighter scored a round one knock-out when it entered the ring for the first time at the
Milan show back in November 2008. Its brutal elegance stole the ‘Most Beautiful Bike’ award and raised the bar for extreme nakeds. The Streetfighter and Streetfighter S first hit town in model year 2010 and their asphalt-ripping reputation was an instant hit with connoisseurs of sport nakeds.

The Streetfighter’s Superbike soul combines fighter attitude and naked sophistication to create pure
adrenaline. Stripped to the bare essentials, its combination of state-of-the-art race technology, skeletal
styling and contemporary design takes Ducati’s big naked concept to the very top of the fighter food chain.

The true Ducati spirit is captured by an incredibly powerful Desmodromic L-Twin 1098 “Testastretta
Evoluzione” engine producing 155hp with an incredibly wide spread of power thanks to 85lb-ft (11.7kgm) of torque. The Streetfighter’s power and precision is further maximised by weighing in at just 368lb (167kg) - S version - and further benefits from technology derived directly from Ducati’s MotoGP and Superbike projects. Ducati Traction Control and Data Analysis, racing-style braking system, fully adjustable suspension and forged wheels all come as standard equipment on the ‘S’ to complete the battle-ready package.

Streetfighter made good

The Streetfighter culture was born on the backstreets of Northern Europe during the late 70s and 80s. If the Café racer movement had taken traditional bikes and transformed them to establish out-and-out sportbikes, then Streetfighters were definitely anti-establishment. They evolved by removing the fairings from sport bikes, fitting higher bars and customising to create high-performance, over-the-top nakeds. Now, Ducati have taken that concept and applied their own Italian sophistication to a stunning, factory-prepared Streetfighter.

The Ducati Streetfighter is equipped with everything that made the Superbike a legend: Awesome L-Twin muscle with brutal, big-bore torque, thoroughbred chassis technology, beautiful single-sided swingarm, planet-stopping Monobloc brakes and pure, sophisticated class.

While the tank and seat shapes leave no doubt as to the Streetfighter’s roots, it is the upright and
commanding riding position that really starts to shape the character of this ultimate naked. Minimalistic
controls, instrumentation and headlight design leave the front looking clean and mean, while twin-stacked right-side mufflers at the rear leave the tail-end high and sharp. No other Ducati has ever achieved such an aggressive stance while providing a comfortable, empowering, controllable and enjoyable ride.

Ducati’s ‘S’ treatment of the Streetfighter takes its sophistication way off the scale. Superbike spec Öhlins suspension front and rear with lightweight forged Marchesini wheels add extra street credibility when in town and that all-important ‘feel’ when exploring the Streetfighter’s sports soul.

Add the awesome street-going Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Data Analysis as standard equipment and it’s clear that the Streetfighter S is not just muscle – it’s intelligent too.

Lifestyle

Ducati’s Streetfighter project was inevitable. The passion to build the most successful Superbikes ever, mixed with the desire to create iconic, naked motorcycles was a rush of adrenaline just waiting to happen.

Who else would create a bike for out-and-out purists to celebrate naked power in all its forms? A bike with muscle-engine performance, aggressive chassis engineering and intelligent electronics all laid bare to appreciate, respect and enjoy? Ducati build bikes for enthusiasts – for bikers who appreciate the details that come together to make an awesome bike, for perfectionists who instantly recognise excellence when they see it.

Ducati motorcycles aren’t just a means of transport, they enable a lifestyle that set their rider apart from the rest of the world. They’re an extension of character and the ultimate personal statement. The Streetfighter is built with pure Ducati passion and it’s ready to impress, whatever the lifestyle.

Take control

The Streetfighter riding position is empowering. The lightweight aluminium tapered bars are higher than on a Superbike, but still flat enough to ride hard, so machine control is enhanced and the relationship with the front-end remains in tact. Considerable study on seat, footpeg and handlebar position has maximised comfort without losing the feeling that you’re aboard an extreme naked Ducati.
Showing attention to detail typical of all new Ducatis, the handlebars are gripped by beautifully shaped
clamps that flow sleekly into the bar-risers. Even the switchgear presents minimalism at its best. The slimline bodies house easy-to-use switches and buttons and feature a unique weapons-like ‘trigger catch’ that slides down to cover the starter button when activating the kill-switch. Symmetrically mounted, remote brake and clutch reservoirs are small, low and compact and feed slim, radial master-cylinders by Brembo to complete the clean and uncluttered controls arrangement.

The Streetfighter’s instrumentation continues that same clean look with a compact shape that blends into the aggressive line of the headlight. Information additional to the default read-outs is managed from the lefthand handlebar-mounted switch gear, allowing the rider to scroll through and select from various menus.

The display presents rpm and speed, with the former displayed across the screen in a progressive bar
graph. Additionally, the instruments display lap times, DTC status and level selected (if activated on
Streetfighter S) time, air temperature, coolant temperature, battery voltage, two trips and a trip that
automatically starts as the fuel system goes onto reserve. Warning lights illuminate to signify neutral, turn signals, high beam, rev-limit, low oil pressure, fuel reserve, DTC intervention (if activated on Streetfighter S) and scheduled maintenance. The instrument display is also used as the control panels for the DDA and DTC systems as well as listing lap times recorded by using the high-beam flash button as a stopwatch.

A chassis born to fight

At a class-leading 169kg (373lb) dry weight for the Streetfighter and an incredible 167kg (368lb) for the Streetfighter S, both come to the fight with the highest power-to-weight ratio in their class. The purposebuilt Trellis frame, which uses 25.6° of rake compared with the Superbike’s 24.5°, ensures a well-planted front-end, while a 35mm longer single-sided swingarm at the rear ensures the Streetfighter’s acceleration need never be compromised. The longer, beautifully created aluminium swingarm follows the same dual construction detail as the Superbike models and is anodised finished in black.

The lower triple-clamp also gets more muscle development. Formed in a strength-enhancing gull-wing
shape for even more rigidity, it maintains a vice-like grip on the fork legs, giving a precise and solid feeling through the bars on fast direction changes.

The revised rake, longer wheelbase and cross-mounted steering damper ensure stability even under the extreme acceleration of Ducati’s incredible L-Twin torque.

Suspension

The Streetfighter is armed with fully adjustable 43mm Showa forks up front and a fully adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear, giving the bike high performance agility and the rider absolute ‘feel’ and confidence from sure-footed handling.

The forks feature a natural chrome slider finish and radial mounts for the brake callipers and are fully
adjustable in spring preload as well as compression and rebound damping. On the rear, the single Showa unit operates through a progressive linkage and is also fully adjustable in spring preload and damping, both in compression and rebound.

The Streetfighter S pushes the spec way up with 43mm Superbike-spec Öhlins forks that have sliders
treated in low-friction TiN. Fully adjustable in spring preload and precisely adjustable in compression and rebound damping, they ensure ‘S’ feeling and finesse when the fight gets rough.

Taking care of the rear of the ‘S’ is a single high-spec Öhlins unit fully adjustable in spring preload with full adjustment and highly engineered control of compression and rebound damping. The unit is also fitted with a ride enhancing top-out spring which helps maintain rear tyre contact under extreme conditions.

Important attention to performance detail is inherited from its Superbike bloodline with both the
Streetfighter and Streetfighter S having rear ride-height adjusters that allow fine correction after setting
personalised spring preload.

Wheels

10-spoke wheels in lightweight aluminium keep the overall motorcycle weight down and maintain an allimportant control on unsprung weight. This weight is made up of all the components between the
suspension and the road and consists of wheels, tyres, brake discs and callipers etc, but when rotating at high speed, it is the wheels that store most of the kinetic energy and offer the most resistance when
steering, accelerating or braking. Their weight saving, therefore, is a serious contribution to both the
handling and the performance of the bike and the Streefighter pulls out all the stops to be the best.

The Streetfighter S reduces weight even further by using Y-shaped, 5-spoke wheels by Marchesini, forged and then machined in lightweight aluminium. The Streetfighter wheels are finished in graphite grey, while the ‘S’ moves to black for 2011 with both models rolling out on Pirelli Diablo Corsa lll tyres.

Brakes

Both the Streetfighter and Streetfighter S use Brembo’s powerful Monobloc calliper race technology.
Machined from a single piece of alloy, the callipers achieve higher rigidity and resistance to distortion during extreme braking. The result not only delivers planet-stopping brake power, but also gives an enhanced and precise ‘feel’ at the brake lever. The twin Monobloc callipers each have four 34mm pistons that grip huge 330mm discs to achieve their spectacular performance. The weight of the discs has been kept to a minimum by using racing-style narrow braking surfaces.

Power house

The world-beating 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione needs little introduction. Debuting in 2007, it went on to form the basis of a motor that powered Ducati to Superstock and Superbike World titles that left the competition stunned. Now, its massive bore, short stroke and incredible torque powers Ducati’s most extreme naked and the results are equally as stunning.

Producing a ballistic 85lb-ft (11.7kgm) of torque and 155hp (114kW), the Streetfighter’s awesome 1098 power house fears nothing of the naked sports competition. The L-Twin, Testastretta Evoluzione engine gives both the best power-to-weight and the best torque-to-weight ratios in its class.

Surface features include enhanced detailing on the cam belt covers and the magnesium dry clutch cover as well as a new black finish for the main outer casings and carbon-grey finish for the crankcases, which employ the same weight-saving technology used for the 1198.

The vacuum die-cast process used to make the crankcases ensures consistent and precise wall thickness and increased strength from absolute material purity while reducing weight considerably.

Using the Testastretta narrow valve angle, super-straight intake ducts and specially shaped combustion
chambers, the Desmodromic motor continues to breathe through MotoGP-derived elliptical throttle bodies and four large diameter valves per cylinder to achieve its incredible spread of torque.

A high performance six-speed box and racing-style dry clutch makes sure the transmission package delivers 155hp as efficiently as possible.

The Streetfighter’s power house is protected by twin coolant radiators, carefully curved in pure naked style for optimum performance and stunning with visual effect. The upper radiator is assisted by lightweight, high flow electric fan assemblies while the lower sits in the front of the belly pan, which also houses a highly efficient oil heat exchanger.

Having more experience and success with twin-cylinder high performance engines than any other
manufacturer, the air-cooled L-Twin remains central to Ducati's philosophy of motorcycling. This
experience, plus constant investment in quality by design, advanced materials and engineering techniques, has enabled a distance between service intervals of 7,500 miles (12,000 kilometres), making Ducati ownership even more enjoyable than ever.

Cannon-style mufflers

The massive Streetfighter 2-1-2 exhaust system is made from weight-saving 1mm thick steel and flows
from 58mm to 63.5mm diameter pipes. The system uses two lambda probes to ensure precise fuel
mapping for optimum performance and an electronic valve in the mid-section to achieve a wide spread of power.

The cannon-style, vertically stacked mufflers sport the same finishes as the Superbike family: Brushed steel for the Streetfighter and black brushed steel for the Streetfighter S, both delivering the famous Ducati LTwin sound synonymous with raw, Desmo power.

Lighting

The aggressive looking headlight is the ‘face’ of the Streetfighter and it leaves little doubt as to its
character. While the main lighting source and multi-reflector design provides powerful illumination to cut through the night, its two evil eye strips of LED positioning lights give a striking and unmistakable identity to the bike.

Keeping design matters clean and stylish, the directional indicators remain unobtrusive with clear lenses and coloured bulbs, while the rear light is integral to the shape of the tailpiece, providing unobscured illumination while maintaining the smooth and elegant look to the high and sharp rear-end.

Naked detail

More attention to detail than ever before went into creating the Ducati Streetfighter. Repositioning many of the components usually hidden by bodywork and continuing to keep them out of sight was a major challenge for the design and engineering teams, but they’ve pulled it off with impressive results.

Add to this details such as the perfectly formed passenger seat cover, a rear hugger fitted as standard equipment and the pre-minimalised licence plate holder, and it’s plain to see that Ducati have gone that extra step to achieve the highest level of finish.

Streetfighter colours

While the Streetfighter looks stunning in either red or the new arctic white set against a black frame and subtle graphite grey 10-spoke wheels, the Streetfighter S positively seduces in red and menaces in a new diamond black with respectively matching red or racing black Trellis frames. The carbon fibre front fender and cam belt covers superbly match the black Y-shaped, 5-spoke wheels.

2011 Honda Stateline VT1300CR

Featuring long, low lines that embody what cruising is all about, the Stateline blends two worlds of motorcycling style: traditional looks plus progressive elements. The deeply valanced fenders arc downward in classic retro style, yet the all-new rolling chassis and overall lines bring a fresh look to the class. Add to that the deep throaty rumble of a big V-twin engine and that classic big Vee power pulse, and you have a machine that's the perfect choice for cruising-anytime you want.

Long and low, with a no-nonsense attitude and the performance to back it up. The Honda VT1300CRA Stateline is a motorcycle that grabs your attention and won't let go. Its all-new chassis includes an aggressively raked front end that looks radical, yet handles with the composure you'd expect from a Honda cruiser. The 1,312 cc V-twin engine uses Honda's Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) for crisp throttle response, and other high-tech features such as three-valve cylinder heads and two spark plugs per cylinder help to produce the wide, strong powerband that makes riding a big cruiser so much fun.

Call it the perfect fusion of traditional and progressive cruiser design, featuring all the classic cues that make the Fury and Sabre so cool, plus a few twists that are decidedly neo-retro, like deep, long fenders.

The brawny 1312cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 52º V-twin is a thing of beauty, too, with smooth, maintenance-free shaft final drive putting all that torque and power to the ground with effortless ease.

See what happens when you build a custom that’s equal parts old school and new. Then look no further than the Stateline.

Pure Style. Pure Power. Pure V-twin.
Classic in design, but thoroughly modern where it counts—inside—the Stateline’s powerful 1312cc, 52º V-twin engine features fuel injection and three valves per cylinder.

Street Smart Style
Pavement-skimming saddle. Raked-out fork. Long, deeply valanced, tire-hugging fenders. All-black frame. On the prowl or standing still, the Stateline is something to behold.

Greater Control=Greater Confidence.
Looking for that added peace of mind while riding in less than ideal conditions? Then the Stateline ABS with optional anti-lock braking might be just the ticket.

Bolt-On Bling.
Cruise the boulevard or tour in style with our new 24 liter leather saddlebags, braided lines, chrome passenger backrest and carrier, passenger floorboards and engine guard. 24 Honda Genuine Accessories in all.

1312cc V-twin Engine: Powerful 1312cc, 52-degree V-twin engine with a single-pin crankshaft and dual balancers has plenty of torque, and the feel only a V-twin can deliver.

Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI): Forget about fiddling with a choke—the Stateline's fuel injection system means no-hassle startups on cold mornings or at high altitudes, and optimal performance in any condition.

Retro-Progressive Styling: Like its Sabre and Fury cousins, the Stateline, with its chopped dragster look, beefy V-twin and long, neo-design fenders, is one of the most authentic, radically styled custom motorcycles that Honda has ever produced.

Shaft Final Drive: The shaft final drive is quiet, clean, and has been uniquely integrated into the overall design.

With its head-turning styling and brawny 1312cc V-twin powerplant, one might think that a single Stateline model was plenty to go around. But guess what? The good news is that you have two versions of Statelines to choose from: our standard (and we hesitate to call anything about this machine “standard”) model and an anti-lock brake-equipped Stateline ABS.

2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic SE Special Edition

What screams retro better than whitewall tires? Nothing. That’s why Kawasaki included them as part of a Special Edition package for the 2011 Vulcan® 900 Classic cruiser. But the good looks don’t stop there: a bold brushed metal graphic enhances the long, loping lines of the 900 Classic, flowing from the front fender to the tank and ending on the rear fender. A fat 180-series rear tire – the largest in its class – complements the overall look. Couple that with the visceral V-twin rumble that comes courtesy of a single-pin crankshaft, and you have one amazing package that is as affordable as it is beautiful.

The Vulcan 900 Classic’s 903cc engine provides excellent performance, while rider floorboards complete with a heel and toe shifter enhance rider comfort. The tank-mounted instrumentation includes a handy fuel gauge and an easy-to-read analog speedometer. And its 5.3-gallon fuel tank is the largest in its class.

The visual treats continue with curved cooling fins on the big, classic-looking V-twin, which bristles with modern touches inside including four-valve-per-cylinder performance and liquid-cooled reliability. An engine counterbalancer works with the single-pin crankshaft to produce that distinctive guttural V-twin sound and feel, but without the annoying V-twin vibration.

Rugged and reliable belt final drive on the Vulcan 900 keeps the overall weight down, improves rear-end styling and provides the rider with additional customizing opportunities. Not to mention the largest rear tire in its class also contributes to the Vulcan 900’s big bike feel.

The Vulcan 900’s low seat height and tapered seat do not discriminate against shorter riders. Comfortable enough for any distance, the front bucket seat flows nicely into the largest capacity fuel tank in its class, and the lower chassis rails provide a narrow shape for an abbreviated reach to the pavement – ideal for shorter riders. Meanwhile, the rear pillion pad makes it painless to share the two-wheeled experience. Wide handlebars, seat and floorboard layout offers an ideal ergonomic relationship, making for a relaxing mount.

Some of the other features that make the Vulcan 900 appealing to such a wide audience are a fork offset and rake designed for light, effortless maneuvering at low, in-town speeds. The 900 Classic is equipped with an auto-fast idle system that uses an rpm feedback relay to help ensure a fixed engine speed in all starting conditions. Its easy-to-control fuel injection makes ultra-low-speed riding surprisingly easy, and the abundant low-rpm torque provides thrilling roll-on acceleration. At home, around town or on the open road, this motorcycle is built for hour upon hour of riding pleasure.

Deep fins on the cylinder and cylinder head were designed to highlight the VN900’s larger engine. Fin spacing and size where chosen to make the engine look big.

Like the VN2000, the 900 Classic has a quiet and efficient belt final drive.

SuspensionTriangular-shaped swingarm appears to be a hardtail design, but acts on a single shock hidden beneath the seat.

Bodywork/StylingThe VN900 shares many of the long-and-low styling cues from the stunning VN2000.

Instrumentation includes LCD window displaying an odometer, tripmeter and clock. The meter also has warning lamps for fuel, oil pressure and water temperature.
